How will I Know If I Need A New Roof?

It's best to leave it up to the professionals to climb onto your roof but if you have a pair of binoculars handy, here are some things you want to look out for...

* Curled up shingles - This can allow rain to enter as well as easy wind damage.

* Granules worn off - Granules protect the shingles from both sunlight and water. Deterioration will occur if they have worn off. If possible, look in your gutters and by downspouts for traces of granules. You may also see dark spots where granules are missing.

* Loose or missing shingles - Leaking can occur.

* Cracked shingles -This is a common cause of leaking.

* Nail pops - Small holes where nails have popped through the shingle can cause leakage.

* Spots on your interior ceiling - Indication that your roof is leaking.

* Interior leaks - This is an obvious sign that your roof may be in need of repair.

* Black or Green Streaks - This is most likely unsightly algae that has formed.

* Age of roof - Depending on the quality of shingle, most roofs last 10-25 years. If you have noticed other homes in the neighborhood similar in age getting their roofs replaced, it may be time to get an estimate!

If you have found that your roof has one or more of these qualities, it is probably time for either a new roof or a roof repair!
